The 2014 Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Volunteer Association training conference was held on February 15th at the Sheriff's Training Academy and Regional Services Center in Whittier, CA. Several Carson Station civilian volunteers as well as representatives from several law enforcement agencies throughout the state and country attended the conference and received training in areas such as gang and graffiti recognition, patrol tactics, and terrorism.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has long recognized the vast resources of experience and skills possessed by its county residents and surrounding communities. The purpose of the Civilian Volunteer Program is to tap into these skills in order to help the Sheriff's Department achieve its goals in an effective and cost-efficient manner. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department views this as a means to assist those that reside in Los Angeles County by providing a service to their community.
