Los Angeles County Sheriff John L. Scott and members of the department's command staff recently honored the contributions made by LASD Volunteers. Each year, the Volunteer Coordinator nominates one Volunteer per station or unit to be their Volunteer of the Year. This award is based on several factors: Accountability, Leadership, Can Do Attitude, Professionalism, Compassion, Respect for Diversity, and Customer Orientation.
For 2014, the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station nominated Volunteer Phillip Rothschild as their station's Volunteer of the Year. Phillip joined the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station in 2011 as part of his desire to give back to the community. Phillip is a small business owner in West Hollywood and was looking for the opportunity to make a difference. Phillip has taken the initiative to lead with training those new to the Front Desk or Volunteer on Patrol program. He is one of the West Hollywood Volunteers who volunteers the most number of hours every year. We can rely on him to head up the weekend's VOP activities, usually ending around 3:00 in the morning. He is driven to "do the right thing" and serve the West Hollywood community in the way they hope to be helped.
The West Hollywood Station's Volunteer Program has 37 members who provide the "high-touch" level of service that West Hollywood residents and visitors deserve. In 2013, the station Volunteers contributed nearly 10,000 hours. The value of the service provided by the Volunteer team amounted to over $258,000.
The entire West Hollywood Sheriff's Station congratulates Phillip Rothschild on his deserved recognition, and that all the station Volunteers for their dedication and service.
