On Thursday, June 5th, West Hollywood Station personnel joined more than 2,000 law enforcement officers from throughout Southern California work a whole "new beat" with Special Olympics Southern California. West Hollywood personnel received the torch from the Los Angeles Police Department on the east side of our city and ran Sunset Blvd westbound to the Beverly Hills border. At that location, runners from the Beverly Hills Police Department.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run, is the Special Olympics largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. The LA County Sheriff's Department and the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station have supported this event for many years. More than 4,000 officers and Special Olympics athletes proudly run 1,500 miles and through 200 communities with the torch to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Southern California.
