Carson's Wearable Camera Pilot Program

Deputy Dennis Conway has been wearing a body camera for only about a month now, but he's already sure he won't want to give it up when a test program at the Carson sheriff's station ends in February.



"A lot of people never believe what we actually deal with every day," said Conway, who has worked patrol at the Carson station for seven years. "This documents the situation. For me, it's a relief to (have recorded evidence to disprove) allegations of doing something wrong."



Conway is among 17 deputies who volunteered to wear the business-card-size cameras during the pilot program. In total, 96 deputies at four Sheriff's Department stations Lancaster, Temple and Century are the others are testing four prototypes of the cameras that attached to their shirts....
