On Saturday, February 21st, nearly 450 volunteers from six California counties attended the 5th Annual LASD Volunteer Association Law Enforcement Volunteer Training Conference. Volunteers from thirty-one policing agencies and twenty-four LASD stations attended the conference. Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell welcomed the attendees to LASD's training academy in Whittier.
In his welcome, Sheriff McDonnell said, "Volunteers are true patriots as they serve their communities in partnership with their local peace officers."
Training classes during the day-long conference included Human Trafficking, Radio Skills Refresh, Traffic Direction, Critical Information Gathering, Leadership and Ethics, Observation Skills, and a presentation from Crime Stoppers.
The LASD Volunteer Association is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization that is focused on providing training and safety equipment to LASD's volunteers.
