HALLOWEEN MASK ROBBER IS IN CUSTODY



On Monday, October 12, 2015, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's East Los Angeles Station sent out a request for information on a robbery suspect. The request included three surveillance photographs of the suspect. Later that day, a concerned individual contacted one of the handling detectives. That person provided the name of the suspect. With that information, the handling detective was able to obtain a clearer photograph of the suspect who was identified as Jose Martin Avila MH/45. The updated photograph was disseminated to the patrol deputies at the station. Within 24 hours, the suspect was seen on the streets by patrol personnel and arrested.



The handling detectives interviewed the suspect and were able to link him to eight armed robberies in the East Los Angeles area and one more in LAPD's area.



It is with great appreciation and thanks to the concerned individual for their help in this case. As I am sure the many victims in this case are also appreciative. With continued support from the community we serve, we can making our community safer for all.
