Sept 23 - First Day of Civilian Academy at Carson Station

Wednesday, September 23rd, was the first day of the 2015 Civilian Academy at Carson Station. Students were greeted by Captain Chris Marks and Academy Staff Sergeant Carlos Veramendi, Deputy Fredrick Noya, and Volunteer Benito Licon.



The academy course will consist of eight weeks of instruction, education, and training. This includes lectures from our detective bureau, narcotics division, Aero unit, the District Attorney's office, and Operation Safe Streets division. In addition to the lectures, students will be taken on field trips to Men's Central Jail and Sheriff's Communication Center. These lectures and trips will give insight into the purpose of each part of the Sheriff's Department and how it operates.



After successful completion of the academy, students will graduate on Tuesday, November 10th at Carson City Hall.
