On Thursday, February 11, 2016, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department kicked off the START program at Century Regional Detention Center (CRDF). The program focuses on chemical dependency/substance abuse. In addition, it offers classes in parenting, anger management and other basic life skills. The Department of Public Health is joining partnership with other organizations in communities in order help the women who are released from jail, transition back into the community, assists with sober living programs and in most cases, continue their classes. The START program will make its way into other facilities in the near future.
