East Los Angeles Shooting & Robbery



On March 1, 2012, two gang members entered a business in East Los Angeles and shot three rival street gang members. The victims suffered serious injuries as a result of the shooting. Investigators assigned to Operation Safe Streets Bureau (OSS) immediately investigated the assault. The OSS investigators simultaneously investigated an armed robbery committed by the same suspect gang. The OSS investigators served a search warrant for the robbery and subsequently located one of the vehicles used during the commission of the shooting. In the following days, OSS investigators authored another search warrant involving the same gang and recovered an AK-47 assault rifle, a handgun, as well as more evidence related to the shooting. Subsequent investigation led to the identification of five gang members who conspired to kill the three rival gang members. A final search warrant was authored for three additional residence, which led to the recovery of more evidence related to the shooting. All of the gang members were arrested for conspiracy to commit murder.
