ALLEGED RAPE SUSPECT ARRESTED

On Wednesday, November 7, 2012, an alleged rape of a mentally disabled woman occurred on a public transit bus in Culver City. As a result of extensive media coverage of the incident, South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station received a tip late the following evening regarding the location of the alleged suspect. Based on the tip, deputies located and arrested Suspect Kerry Trotter at a residence located in the 1400 Block of West 99th Street in Los Angeles. Detectives from the Sheriff Department's Special Victims Bureau were notified of the arrest and assumed further investigation of the incident.

Members of the public have long been recognized to be the "eyes and ears" of the community. The arrest of Suspect Trotter reinforces this belief and serves as an outstanding example of cooperation between law enforcement, the media, and the community to identify and apprehend an extremely dangerous and violent criminal.
