Thirty of Antelope Valley’s finest residents graduate from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s 28th Community Academy

Thirty of Antelope Valley's finest residents graduated from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's 28th Community Academy on May 21, 2013, at the Chimbole Center, in the City of Palmdale.

Together, the Palmdale and Lancaster Sheriff Stations hold a 12 week academy twice a year. The purpose of this academy is to build a better understanding between the community and the Sheriff's Department through education. The program focuses on the Sheriff Department's operational procedures, as well as sessions ranging from criminal law to undercover operations. The Participants experienced a ride-a-long, tour a custody facility and participate in role-playing exercises.

This academy is an amazing experience for all involved. Not only do participants learn how the sheriff's department operates but we as a department get the opportunity to build positive relationships with the citizens of the Antelope Valley area.

The next scheduled Community Academy will be starting the first week in September. Due to the limited class room space, only the first 50 applicants will be accepted; therefore you will be notified only if you are selected. Those applicants who are eligible but are not enrolled in the academy class will be placed on a list for possible future selection.
