Pyramid Lake Boater injured by Propeller

Pyramid Lake Boater injured by Propeller

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Parks Bureau Marine Patrol responded to a call of an injured boater on Pyramid Lake at 10:30 a.m. this morning, July 28, 2013. They found that a 28 year-old North Hollywood man had been injured by the propeller of his boat.

Five men were boating when there was a problem with the boat's propeller. The owner got into the water to check on the problem and found fishing line tangled up in the boat's propeller. Two of the other men in the boat got into the water to assist with repairing the propeller. While they made the repairs, the boat was drifting close to some rocks that could damage the boat. One of the men still in the boat started the engine and placed it in reverse. The propeller struck the owner of the boat severely injuring him with lacerations to his abdomen and left arm.

The injured man was airlifted to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Departments Parks Bureau is dedicated to providing a safe and drug free environment at all Los Angeles County Parks.
