01 / 07 / 2014

On January 7, 2014, three males were taken into custody and booked into Los Angeles County Sheriff's Century Regional Detention Facility, in Lynwood on charges of grand theft.

Deputies from Compton Station Special Assignment Team were conducting routine patrol in the city of Compton. Deputies saw a blue van parked at a gas station over an underground fuel storage tank, located at 4300 Block of East Rosecrans Avenue, Compton. Deputies saw a hand protrude out from the center floorboard of the van, pull-out a hose from the underground tank and close the metal cover lid. The van proceeded to drive out of the gas station. Believing the occupants in the van had just committed larceny, the deputies conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, deputies discovered five 55-gallon tanks inside the van, as well as a pump and a water hose. All five gallons were filled with diesel fuel, approximately two hundred-seventy five gallons.

The three males had a gang nexus and are currently being held on $20,000 bail.
