On Thursday, May 10, 2012, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department assigned to the Parks Bureau's Special Problem Team attended a community meeting at Rimgrove Park in Valinda. This meeting was organized in an effort to enhance the working relationship and communication between the residents living in the areas around the park and the deputies who patrol the park. During the meeting, Sergeant Donald Rubio spoke with the community group and expressed his commitment to create a strong partnership with the residents and to partner with them to reduce crime.
Individuals attending the meeting welcomed the interaction with Sergeant Rubio and his team of deputies. They welcomed the partnership and were impressed by the dedication and commitment of Parks Bureau personnel to their neighborhood.
Mr. Stan Davis, who lives adjacent to the park, said he has seen more of a police presence from the Parks Bureau Deputies in and around the park during the last two years. He further said the increased patrols in the park have helped to reduce graffiti, vandalisms and car burglaries.
