Parks Bureau Hosts 2nd Annual "Stars on the North Pole" at Lennox Park
Personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Parks Bureau and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation held their second annual "Stars on the North Pole" event at Lennox Park (10828 South Condon Ave., Lennox) on December 18, 2013. "Stars on the North Pole" is a Christmas event that 40 children, ages 6-12 years old from the South Los Angeles area participate in. The children are treated to five Christmas related activities where they make Elf hats, ornaments, decorate cookies, play games, watch movies and are treated to a pizza party. They are also given a short class on alcohol and drug awareness.
This event would not be possible without the assistance and support of the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, Lennox Business Alliance, and Los Angeles County 2nd District Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.
"Stars on the North Pole" is one of the many events that Parks Bureau and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation partner and work together on throughout the County of Los Angeles. These events foster a good relationship between these agencies and the public who visit our parks.
Parks Bureau Unit Commander Captain Stephen M. Smith and all Parks Bureau personnel would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Departments Parks Bureau is dedicated to providing a safe and drug free environment at all Los Angeles County Parks.
