After an extensive eight month investigation, detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) Compton Sheriff's Station, in collaboration with LASD Major Crimes Bureau, announced the arrest of a trio of "pimps" who controlled a multi-million dollar prostitution ring in Compton.
LASD detectives investigating the increase in street prostitution along Long Beach Boulevard learned that the trio, 31 year-old Robert Walker, 34 year-old Daniel Gunther, and 34 year-old David Sheffey, who self-proclaimed themselves as the "Compton Division," were heavily pimping, pandering, and human trafficking victims not only in Compton, but across San Diego, Las Vegas, and other Western States.
Walker, a resident of Compton, was arrested and booked by the Long Beach Police Department on March 27, 2014. He is being held in lieu of four million-dollars bail.
Gunther, also a resident of Compton, was arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on February 13, 2014, for a 1.3 million-dollar warrant issued by LASD. He has since been extradited.
Sheffey, a resident of Inglewood, was arrested and booked by LASD Pico Sheriff's Station on April 12, 2014. He is being held in lieu of three million-dollars bail.
All three men face multiple counts of pimping, pandering and human trafficking.
Although these arrests significantly reduce prostitution in Compton, detectives continue to track and monitor illicit activity, through various operations, in an effort to improve the quality of life for residents in the area.
