Lomita 13 Gang Member Sentenced to 35 Years to Life

December 8, 2014

40 year old "Lomita 13" gang member, Chadwick Learnard, has been sentenced to 35 years to life in the unprovoked assault of a Torrance couple.

On October 1, 2013, Learnard assaulted the 33 year old male white victim with a skateboard as the victim was entering a fast food restaurant. The victim's 29 year old wife rushed to her husband's aid and soon found herself victim of the attack. Learnard fled the scene and attempted to elude capture by hiding in a nearby business. Within minutes of the attack, Lomita Sheriff's deputies had Learnard, who was on parole for criminal threats, back in custody and behind bars. Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.

On December 8, 2014, Learnard learned his fate when his sentencing was handed down by a Torrance Superior Court Judge. The jury deliberated less than 24 hours before they revealed their verdict.
