Three Juveniles Arrested for Felony Arson and Vandalism in Mary M. Bethune Park



On Monday January 23, 2012, at 9:41 PM, Parks Bureau Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department received a call regarding a trash fire at Mary M. Bethune Park. The deputies along with Los Angeles County Fire responded to the area. The Fire Department extinguished the trash fire which was located next to the gymnasium. During the subsequent investigation, the deputies discovered a large amount of fresh graffiti on the gymnasium wall.



The deputies detained three male juveniles. Two of them were 13-years-old and one was 14-years-old. All three are residents of Los Angeles. Based on the preliminary investigation, all three juveniles were charged with felony arson and vandalism. The three juveniles were booked at Century Regional Detention Center and transported to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey.
