On June 6, 2012, at approximately 3:05 pm, deputies responded to "Bank of America", located at 8921 Santa Monica Ave., in the city of West Hollywood regarding a robbery call. A male Hispanic suspect handed the teller a note demanding US Currency in various denominations. After receiving approximately $2,000.00, the suspect walked eastbound Santa Monica Blvd. and out of view.
Detectives later discovered that the suspect walked to a nearby clothing store and purchased blue jeans, a dark grey button down shirt, a black belt and black dress shoes. It was also discovered that the stolen currency was used to purchase these items. The suspect changed at the store and then fled eastbound Santa Monica Blvd. and out of view.
Through department resources the suspect was identified as Jose Antonio Luque, MH/02-14-81. He was also identified as a Parolee at large who had been convicted of Kidnapping and was considered armed and dangerous.
On Saturday, June 9, 2012, Los Angeles Police Department arrested Jose Antonio Luque for Violation of Parole. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes Unit was notified of the arrest. The suspect was interviewed by Major Crimes and confessed to the robbery. The case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office for filing.
