The presence of graffiti in a community is no laughing matter. Not only does it cost taxpayers thousands of dollars a year to clean up, it creates an environment of fear and insecurity for residents and visitors alike.
In order to prevent the spread of this urban blight, the City of Lawndale, in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Lawndale Service Center, held a "Graffiti Wipe Out" event on Saturday February 23, 2013.
Approximately 40 people took part in the event which by all measures was a huge success. City of Lawndale Director of Municipal Services Ms. Deborah Holland, stated "the Graffiti Wipe Out is a way for the Lawndale community to show their pride by volunteering a little of their time to keep our city clean and safe."
For more information or to participate in the next "Graffiti Wipe Out" please contact the City of Lawndale Municipal Services Department at (310) 973-3220.
