Communicating across language barriers often presents a challenge for law enforcement officers. Given the fact that effective communication with a person who has limited English speaking ability might very well mean the difference between life and death, South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station has immediate access to a wide variety of linguistic resources, 24/7.
In addition to having numerous bilingual deputies and civilian staff readily available, the station utilizes community volunteers and telephonic translation services to help overcome any potential language barrier (including services for the hearing impaired).
Whether it's a matter of simply providing directions, answering a question about a local attraction, or giving life saving instructions, South Los Angeles Station is prepared to meet the critically important challenge of effectively communicating with non English speaking members of the public.
