The Special Events unit plans, coordinates and choreographs major Department events, such as the Los Angeles County Peace Officers Memorial, Sheriff's Day Luncheon, pre-game ceremonies at professional sports venues, annual holiday parties, years of service and promotional luncheons, and other special events. They provide assistance to other units in the preparation and coordination of deputy, reserve and explorer graduations; building dedications and groundbreaking ceremonies; and funerals for peace officers killed in the line of duty. They also provide assistance to the Award Programs unit with ceremonies and other administrative duties.
