Pregnant Woman Robbed, Suspect Arrested

06/03/2013

On May 23, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., a pregnant woman had just walked out of Lawndale Liquor at 16201 Hawthorne Boulevard, Lawndale, when Suspect Christian McCraw (19 year old, resident of Lawndale) punched her in the face and forcefully pulled her necklace from her neck. McCraw ran east on 162nd Street with the stolen necklace and out of view.

Deputies searched the area for the suspect and learned that he ran into a friend's residence in the 4700 block of 162nd Street. After entering the residence, the suspect quickly got undressed and pretended that he had been sleeping. Deputies were able to detain McCraw for the robbery. The suspect was positively identified by the victim as being the person that assaulted her and stole her necklace. Deputies recovered the stolen necklace from inside the residence, along with the clothing that the suspect was wearing when he committed the robbery.

The suspect was arrested and transported to South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station.

The victim was treated by paramedics for minor injuries.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Lieutenant John Hocking indicated, "The deputies and detective did an outstanding job taking this violent criminal off the streets of Lawndale."

On May 28, 2013, the District Attorney filed one count of robbery. He is also being held on a probation violation. McCraw is being held without bail. His next court date is June 11, 2013 at Torrance Court.
