On April 2, 2013, The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, South Los Angeles Station/Lawndale Service Center deputies in conjunction with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and the City of Lawndale Code Enforcement conducted an inspection at a local business in the 16600 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, Lawndale. During that inspection, ABC and Code Enforcement found several violations and warned the business owner to correct the violations.
On June 5, 2013, deputies from the Lawndale Service Center, Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and the City of Lawndale Code Enforcement went back to the same business to ascertain if the violations had been corrected. After conducting the inspection, it was discovered that a couple of the violations were corrected, however, not all of them. There was also several new violations identified. All of the violations were relatively minor in nature. If the business owner, does not correct the violations, he could lose his business and alcohol license.
The reason these three organizations work together and conduct these types of inspections is to protect the public's health and safety.
The Alcoholic Beverage Control's Web site indicates, "The mission of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is to administer the provisions of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act in a manner that fosters and protects the health, safety, welfare, and economic well being of the people of the State."
