LASD and You: Community Partners
The eighth running of the "Tour of California" came through the Pitchess Detention Center the second week of May, closing roads and creating a lot of excitement. It was just another example of how the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has partnered with local and state businesses, as well as the residents of Los Angeles County, to bring fun and excitement to our communities.
Roads were closed all over the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys, which are two areas the Sheriff's Department provides law enforcement services for. And the roads were closed on the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic as well. While many motorists, department employees or otherwise, were not so enthusiastic about the race inconveniencing them, it was bike enthusiast's dream for the ride to come through our city and our center.
The 2013 "Tour of California" was presented by AMGEN, and won by American Tejay Van Garderen. It began in Escondido, concluded in Santa Rosa, and ran from May 12th to May 19th, 2013. AMGEN is a "Fortune 500" biotechnology company based out of Thousand Oaks.
