Children taken into Protective Custody after Search Warrant Nets Narcotics & Firearms

09/02/2011

On August 30, 2011, Detective Antonio Guillen, from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's gang unit, Operation Safe Streets Bureau (OSS), acted on information that gang member Ivonne Salazar, a 24 year-old Hispanic woman from East Los Angeles, was endangering the wellbeing of her children by selling narcotics from her residence while maintaining firearms to protect her sales of illicit narcotics.

Operation Safe Streets Bureau personnel served a search warrant at Ms. Salazar's residence while accompanied by the Los Angeles County Department of Children's Services-Multi Agency Response Team (DCFS-MART). A search of the residence revealed Ms. Salazar was in possession of three loaded handguns, and a large amount of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Heroin for sales. When asked, Ms. Salazar admitted to possessing the illegal narcotics for sales, as well as possessing the firearms for protection during business transactions.

Due to the unsafe living environment, the three children, Hispanic girls ages 4,7,8, were taken into protective custody by DCFS-MART.
