Jacques "Anthony" La Berge, a 27-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was recently promoted to the rank of Chief by Sheriff Lee Baca and assigned to the North Patrol Division. Chief La Berge will oversee the operations of the Malibu/Lost Hills, Lancaster, Palmdale, Santa Clarita Valley and West Hollywood Stations.
Chief La Berge's career with the Sheriff's Department began in November of 1984. He graduated from the Department's Training Academy as a member of Class #226. As a Deputy Sheriff, he held assignments at Pitchess Detention Center-East Facility ("Wayside Max") and Lennox Station, where he worked patrol and detective positions. Chief La Berge was promoted to Sergeant in 1994 and assigned to the Pitchess Detention Center-South Facility, Crescenta Valley and Altadena Stations, and the Special Enforcement Bureau, Canine Services Detail. In July of 2000, Chief La Berge was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Century Station, Compton Station Operations, and Field Operations Region II Headquarters as the Chief's Aide. He was promoted to Captain in November of 2005 and assumed command of the newly-created Transit Services South Bureau. On January 1, 2007, he assumed command of Santa Clarita Valley Station. In April of 2010, Chief La Berge was promoted to Commander and assigned to Field Operations Region I Headquarters, where he oversaw Budget, Personnel, and both the Palmdale and Santa Clarita Valley Stations.
Chief La Berge holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Studies from California State University, Long Beach. Chief La Berge resides in the city of Santa Clarita. He enjoys spending quality family time with his wife, and his two beautiful daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys physical activities, family vacations, and is an avid fan of the USC Trojans and Oakland Raiders football programs
