On February 20, 2014, personnel from South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station and Lawndale Service Center conducted a school safety forum for school executives from the City of Lawndale and the county areas that South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station patrols.
The forum focused on how the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department working with local school executives will help prevent school violence and keep students safe. The forum was an interactive process where school personnel discussed their concerns regarding school safety while they met with Sheriff's Department personnel who would be the first responders to any type of school violence incident.
After the forum, attendees were shown one of the Sheriff Department's Emergency Services Detail's armored vehicles and paramedic equipment that would be used in a school violence incident.
By working together both the Sheriff's Department and school executives were able to learn from each other.
The Lawndale cable television show filmed portions of the event which will air in the near future.
