Information Detail
30th Annual National Night Out
During the first week of August, the cities of Diamond Bar, Walnut and the unincorporated area of Rowland Heights successfully hosted the annual National Night Out celebrations. This year marked the 30th anniversary of this national event, designed to bring neighborhoods together and promote safer communities. Community members and businesses were provided crime prevention information as well as introduced to neighborhood watch groups and local law enforcement.
This year's events were marked by concerts in the park , food, exhibits and the opportunity to meet and interact with city officials and local law enforcement personnel from the Walnut/Diamond Bar sheriff Station. Those who attended said the event was enjoyed by children and adults alike and saw it as a great opportunity to make a community statement against crime.
The National Night Out, "America's Night Out Against Crime" event was first sponsored in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) , "a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and promotion of various crime prevention programs including neighborhood watch groups, law enforcement agencies, state and regional crime prevention associations, businesses, civic groups, and individuals, devoted to safer communities.
