Palmdale Sheriff's Station is anticipating an opening for the position of Community Advisory Committee Member. This non-paid, volunteer position advises the station Captain on matters relating to our local community.
The Palmdale Community Advisory Committee is intended to build a better understanding between the public we serve and the Palmdale Sheriff's Station through education and communication. The Committee provides the Palmdale Sheriff' Station with direct input from the public regarding local community issues and concerns.
The Palmdale Community Advisory Committee meets monthly and holds quarterly town hall meetings to address concerns between the community and the Sheriff's Department. The committee is responsible for preparing quarterly reports regarding community efforts and strategies. Additionally, the committee works to assure compliance with the Justice Department's Settlement Agreement with the Antelope Valley Sheriff's Stations.
Applicants selected for this position must meet the Sheriff's Department volunteer qualifications, be willing to attend all meetings, complete our local Community Academy, and several other training classes.
Additionally, applicants must:
Be a resident or community representative of the Palmdale area.
Not be seeking or hold an elected office.
Not be currently involved in any criminal or civil action against the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department either as a party, defendant, expert, legal representative or any other role which may constitute a conflict of interest.
