In order to remain connected to the many diverse cultures which exist in Los Angeles County, Sheriff Baca instituted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Advisory Councils. These groups are made up primarily of ethnic groups, and meet with the Sheriff regularly. They keep the Sheriff advised of issues which affect their communities, and assist the Sheriff in being sensitive to their unique customs and beliefs, which might affect their interaction with deputies. It is through this connectivity that the employees of the Sheriff's Department are able to treat these various groups with dignity and respect, while providing the highest level of service possible.
