On Monday, March 25, 2013, South Los Angeles Station Captain Eliezer Vera, and Lieutenant John Hocking from South Los Angeles Station/Lawndale Service Center were guest speakers at the 152nd Street neighborhood watch meeting in the City of Lawndale. Captain Vera and Lieutenant Hocking provided the group with valuable crime prevention information and answered a variety of questions.
Lawndale City Council members Larry Rudolph and James Osborne also attended the meeting and provided valuable information regarding the city's effort to remove graffiti. They encouraged the community to call the city's graffiti hotline at (310) 973-3264 when graffiti is seen
The 152nd Street neighborhood watch plans to meet on a regular basis and have future presenters such as the American Red Cross, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Lawndale Code Enforcement, just to name a few.
Neighborhood watch is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime. It forges bonds among residents. It also helps reduce neighborhood crimes and creates a partnership between law enforcement and the community.
